Oktoberfest at Hillside Gardens – October 1
Looking to raise a stein to fall fun? Celebrate Bavarian culture at Oktoberfest on Tuesday, October 1st at Hillside Gardens. Boo in the Barn – October 4
Get into the Halloween spirit with Boo in the Barn on Friday, October 4th! This family-friendly event promises a cozy night of children’s movies, games, goody bags, and pumpkins—all inside a festive barn setting. Bring blankets, settle in, and enjoy a memorable night of spooky fun. Tickets include admission, the movie, and a goody bag, with hot drinks and concessions available for purchase.
Nature Adventures: Squeak in the Night – October 4
Got little ones who love nature? Head to Fountain Creek Nature Center on October 4th for Squeak in the Night. This event is perfect for kids ages 3-6 and features puppet shows, stories, crafts, and hands-on discovery time on the trail. It’s a great way to introduce young children to the wonders of the outdoors.
Miner’s Pumpkin Patch at Western Museum of Mining and Industry – Saturdays in October
Fall fun kicks off at the Miner’s Pumpkin Patch every Saturday in October at the Western Museum of Mining and Industry. This is the place to be for hayrides, a vintage apple cider press, and a hay maze & slide that kids will love. Families can enjoy live music, food trucks, and various games and activities throughout the day.
Don’t miss the hands-on demonstrations, including gold panning and a stop at the Blacksmith Shop, where you’ll learn about Colorado’s rich mining history. Pick out a locally sourced pumpkin or gourd, and for a bit of extra excitement, you can launch your pumpkin with a catapult!

Harvest Festival at Rock Ledge Ranch – October 5, 2024
The annual Harvest Festival at Rock Ledge Ranch is a fall favorite that takes place on October 5th. Celebrate the beauty of autumn with activities for the whole family. Take a wagon ride, listen to old-time music, or enjoy a slice of pie on the lawn while taking in the crisp autumn air.
Kids will love scrambling for candy, and you can pick the perfect pumpkin to take home for just $5 each. Don’t forget to tour the Historic Homes and visit the Blacksmith for a dose of history. It’s a wonderful mix of fun and tradition, all set against the backdrop of one of Colorado Springs’ beloved historic sites.
Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day – October 5, 2024
If your family loves the outdoors, bring the kids to Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day at Fox Run Regional Park on October 5th. This event is a great way to introduce kids of all ages to the world of mountain biking.

Creek Week Cleanup at North Slope Recreation Area – October 5-6, 2024
Be part of something bigger by joining the Creek Week Cleanup on October 5th and 6th. As the largest watershed-wide cleanup in Colorado, this event invites volunteers to help clear litter from creeks, trails, parks, and open spaces across the region.
The cleanup will take place at the North Slope Recreation Area, making it a great way to enjoy the outdoors while giving back to the community. It’s open to individuals, families, and groups of all sizes. Help preserve the beauty of Colorado’s natural spaces!
Pedal Pikes Peak – October 5-6, 2024
Cyclists, mark your calendars for Pedal Pikes Peak! On October 5th and 6th, Pikes Peak will be open exclusively to cyclists from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., giving you the unique opportunity to ride America’s Mountain without any vehicle traffic.
Cyclists are required to wear reflective clothing and have lights on their bikes for safety. Once you reach the summit, you’ll find food, beverages, and merchandise available. Be sure to make a reservation in advance, and get ready for an exhilarating ride with breathtaking views! Reservations required ($20 per person)
